Overview

Announced at a celebratory event for the 15th Anniversary of the series, Gran Turismo 6 is the second entry on the Playstaton 3. Multiple improvements to the engine were announced, particular to the game's physics engine, owing to new partnerships with suspension companies including KW Auto and tire manufacturers like Yokohama. The rendering system has also been considerably improved.

Gran Turismo 6 is in the Development Garage Now

In a recent interview with Polyphony Digital main man and Mr. Gran Turismo, Kazunori Yamauchi, Gran Turismo 6 has been confirmed and is currently in development. This comes straight from the horse's mouth too, as Yamauchi stated matter-of-factly in the interview. "Of course we're working on GT6 already," he said.

But what could Polyphony possibly introduce for Gran Turismo 6 that hasn't already been crammed into the feature and content-packed GT5? "What really will be the separating factor is something that we can't update through a DLC is something that obviously has to be saved for GT6," Yamauchi stated.

On the subject of DLC, Yamauchi also discussed additional add-ons for Gran Turismo 5, with the first bits of DLC now out of the door and available on the PlayStation Store. "It's been about a year since we've released the game and in the interim we've had about 15 updates that were performed on the game. These set up the basic platform for the system," Yamauchi explained to IGN.

"Now that we have that out of the way, we're ready to release more expansions and content to add to the game."

This additional planned DLC will include more vehicles, including cars and trucks every two months, but it'll be feedback from fans that'll help shape future content. "What we do from here on is also really dependent on the reaction of the users to this first DLC that we just released because this is the first one. Now we have the feedback from our customers and we'll see how that will affect what we will do from here."

Yamauchi offered no further details on Gran Turismo 6, but hopefully, it won't take as many years as GT5 did in arriving on PS3.

Gran Turismo franchise producer Kazunori Yamauchi has confirmed existence and development of Gran Turismo 6, at a recent Beijing press conference Q&A. Yamauchi also confirmed that Grand Turismo 6 will make use of "latest technology".

 

Gran Turismo 6Kazunori Yamauchi said, "We're always aiming for the latest technology and the latest expression [in GT6]."

 

As for news for PS VITA gamers, Yamauchi said Grand Turismo PS VITA version would feature 3G multiplayer, which will allow gamers to race against other gamers anywhere in the world.

 

Yamauchi further added that this will be possible if an only if such a title is made.

Jeigu tiksliai tai Yamauchi sakė, kad "Jei kurtume GT PS Vita žaidimą, mes norėtume išnaudoti galimybę žaisti betkur ir panaudoti 3G betkada". Na, tai nebūtinai reiškia 3G online multiplayer lenktynes, neaišku ar tai yra įmanoma padaryti su 3G. Nors SFxT turėtų būt pirmasis PS Vita žaidimas, kuris naudos 3G online multiplayeriui, tada ir pamatysim ar iš tiesų galima stabiliai žaisti per 3G ar ne.

Gran Turismo 6 Listed for November Release by Retailer

 

We’ve known that Gran Turismo 6 has been in development since 2010, but back in February, an interesting could-be leak occurred. Sony executive Michael Denny said Gran Turismo 6 would come to PS3 in 2013. It seemed to lend significant credence to the notion that Gran Turismo 6 is actually a current-generation game.

 

And now, more evidence that Gran Turismo 6 is coming to PS3 has emerged.

 

I was included on an interesting Tweet linking to this Newegg listing. It’s pretty bare bones, but what it says is rather clear: Gran Turismo 6 is a PlayStation 3 game.
