PC version also uses a checker boarded solution to reach 4K resolution. Also, Rich offers an apology to PC gamers at the end for not having too much coverage on PC stuff because of Pro's launch. 

- PC gains 20+ FPS if you turn off screen space reflections.
- Textures/geometry are like for like
- PC can draw larger distances but some instances have bugs where it skips objects (like buildings)
- Much higher quality shadows on PC but some bugs where some shadows are skipped.
- Rich recommends turning off screen space reflections to gain FPS on mid-range cards like RX 480
- Console versions seem to have a quicker in-game clock, time passes quicker.

Ubisoft releases a new Watch Dogs 2 performance update


 

A new performance enhancing update has been released for Watch Dogs 2, offering some extra performance optimisations and settings as well as Dualshock 4 controller support on PC. 

 

This new update will reduce the game's memory usage, which will improve the performance of PCs with lower amounts of RAM and reduce the performance impact of Screenspace reflections and adds Medium and High options for the effect.  

 

Ubisoft has also reduced the magazine size of the YourBoySergeNerf sniper rifle from 6 to 1, which should satisfy the members of the multiplayer community who think this weapon is "overpowered".

Watch_Dogs 2 – PC Update 1.09 Changelog:


  • - [Performance] RAM Usage Optimization – This patch optimizes a system memory usage which improves the game’s performance on systems with low RAM amount.
  • - [Performance] Screenspace Reflections Optimization – This patch improves the overall performance of Screenspace Reflections and adds two new lower quality levels (Medium and High).
  • - San Francisco Fog – The algorithm of the San Francisco Fog (aka “Karl”) appearing is improved with this title update.
  • - Visual – The maximum value of the Pixel Density slider has been changed from 1.25 to 1.5 with this patch.
  • - Sound – We have added a Music Volume slider.
  • - Controller – Added support for the newer DualShock 4 controllers (ZCT2U models).
  • - YourBoySerge Nerf – This .50 Cal sniper rifle has been the subject of some debate in the community, and is considered to be overpowered in online play. In this patch, we’ve reduced the number of rounds in the magazine from 6 to 1, and we will continue to monitor and balance this beasty rifle.
  • - Fixed various minor issues with flickering.
  • - Fixed various minor issues with incorrect window modes behavior.
  • - Fixed various minor issues with the UI and text.
