No joke, the game is on PSP and it seems (from screens) that it will end up looking better than Yakuza 2! Got to give it up to the team working on the game.

Also the Official Project K teaser site has now been launched. The message says the game has been revealed (this we know) and that it will take place in the Yakuza universe, but going to be something different. The site teases May 13th, we assume an update on the site will be made on this day.

Yakuza 3 for PlayStation 3 was just released in North America, while Yakuza 4, also for PS3, recently made its debut in Japan. All games in Sega’s high-selling series thus far have been for consoles, though the next one, currently with the working title of Project K, will be for the Sony PSP.

Instead of featuring the usual Yakuza series protagonist Kiryu Kazuma, Project K will center around an 18-year-old named Tatsuya Ukyou. The Kamurocho area familiar to series veterns will still be the central location, however, so perhaps a run-in with “The Dragon of Dojima” as a cameo or supporting character is possible. Tatsuya is also seen standing right next to Kazuma in a promo image below, taken from Sega’s teaser website.

Tatsuya is not a member of the mob and never was, though he is something of a social outcast. Some yakuza are, however, involved in a fight against him, as it is said that he feels a “destiny to fight” and has some encounters with members of organized crime.

Not being yakuza doesn’t mean our boy is a sweetheart, though. The game’s early moments have him getting into fights, being sent to juvy, and eventually getting kicked out of his high school. He makes a living like this, as a sort of freelance scrapper, gaining quite a reputation.

Tatsuya’s character is one who believes in his own strength and relies on himself more than anyone else. It’s this that gets him in some troule, when he decides to attempt robbery from a powerful mobster. Despite his usual partners not going along with the plan, the headstrong Tatsuya dives in head first, where he’s met by none other than a top member of the Tojo Clan (a powrful yakuza group which players will remember from the other Yakuza titles). A brutal fight ensues, and that’s all we know so far.

The creators are not yet sure what the final name will be. It’s said that the Japanese name for the Yakuza series, “Ryu ga Gotoku” will probably not appear in the game’s title, but it’s an outside possibility (and smart marketing decision) for it to appear in the subtitle. So perhaps something like Kamurocho Fighter: Ryu ga Gotoku Side Story is possible.

When Valkyria Chronicles switched from PS3 to PSP with Valkyria Chronicles 2, Sega’s developers said the change was primarily to build up a bigger fanbase, and especially to recruit more female gamers into the fold. Somewhat similarly, Project K producer Toshihiro Nagoshi said in last week’s Famitsu that he wants a Yakuza game toned down enough so that it can be appropriate for high school kids.

Famitsu shared details on these character yesterday. Ukyou is, of course, the hero. Kudou is a heroine-like character (the magazine didn't specifically call her the game's heroine though). Kuki is head of the family whose high ranking member Ukyou killed. His family runs the dojo where Ukyou is placed to fight, and that dojo is operated by Amemiya.

The trailer closes off with some actual gameplay footage.

First up is combat. Outside of battles on the streets of Kamurocho, the trailer hints that you'll be able to climb the ranks in the Dragon Heat ring battle. It also says that the game will offer a variety of fighting styles, and you'll be able to fight using your very own style.

Next, the game's "adventure" component. You can get your first look at Kamurocho rendered in PSP form here. The trailer promises at least 100 sub stories and a variety of play spots. Some familiar locals are shown in the trailer here, notably the inside of Don Quixoti.

Next, the game's "play spot" component. Only one play spot is shown here -- the hostess club. But the trailer promises a large variety.

The narration ends, "A new challenge begins for Ryu ga Gotoku."

At the end of the trailer is a link to an official site. The site is not yet active, but will presumably go live later today.

It looks like the underground fighting ring is going to play a major part in this new Yakuza game -- more than the mini game nature of the fighting ring in past Yakuza games.

na tas real gameplay gale tikrai ispudingas.toks kietas ,gatves stiliaus Yakuza. ne koks portas nuo ps2,bet visiskai naujas.intarpai limpa kai ledas.MGS stilius, saunu.be to ir vadinsis tiesiog Yakuza ,bent jau japoniskai tai pavadinimas toks pat kaip ir visu Yakuza zaidimu :D .tikrai kietai atrodo, kietai skamba, kietai dauzosi . Yakuza PSP Comes with Shaving Razor and DLC Codes

Nuotrauka

That's Bic Camera's bonus, the "Kurohyou Original Kai Razor." This sample razor from razor maker Kai comes in a box depicting the game's hero, Tatsuya.

Sega previously teamed with Kai for a razor depicting Yakuza 4 hero Kazuma Kiryu.

Geo, Joshin, Tsutaya and WonderGOO are also getting bonus items, although these can probably be carried onto an airplane. Each shop is getting its own digital contents card with unique download content.

The art on the cards could make them collectors items in their own right. Shown here, left to right, Geo, Joshin, Tsutaya and WonderGOO.

sutom kortom gausi po koda kuris atrakins nauja kostiuma ar special atack.
