Nuotrauka

UPDATE: Xbox marketing man Graeme Boyd has confirmed via his Twitter feed that the Star Wars bundle will be available in Europe, though didn't volunteer a price.

ORIGINAL STORY: A limited edition Star Wars-themed Xbox 360 bundle goes on sale in the US later this year to tie in with the launch of Star Wars Kinect, Microsoft and LucasArts have announced.

The set, priced at $449.99, sees the main 320GB console unit get a R2D2 skin, while the controller gets the C3PO treatment. The 360 has custom Star Wars sounds built in for when you turn the power on or open the disc tray.

You'll also get a white Kinect sensor, a standard wired headset, a copy of Star Wars Kinect, Kinect Adventures and access to "exclusive downloadable content".

Microsoft hasn't confirmed a European release yet, but we're chasing. Amazon has started taking US pre-orders

A US company has sued Microsoft because it believes motion-sensing add-on Kinect infringes its patents.

Impulse Technology alleges Kinect infringed seven of its patents for technology that tracks users' movements and lets them play video games without a controller, Patent Arcade reports.

Impulse's patents describe a “system and method for tracking and assessing movement skills in multidimensional space".

According to the company the patents cover a “wide variety of games where the movement of a player is tracked in three dimensions… and certain exercise games where the motion of the player is tracked to effect movement of a virtual avatar, and the exertion of the user is monitored, including where the tracking of the player is done by use of a camera.”

Impulse adds Kinect game makers, including EA, Sega and Konami, as defendants. They're all guilty of making, selling and importing into the US games that infringe several of their patents, it claimed.

Now it wants a permanent injunction, damages, interest, attorneys’ fees and costs. Microsoft said it was reviewing the complaint and had no comment to make.

Kinect has sold a whopping ten million units since its November 2010 launch. It is the fastest-selling consumer electronics device of all time.

O tas auksinis valdytuvas labai derinasi prie balto komplekto? Man kažkaip nelabai.

Čia tipo konsolė R2-D2, o pultelis C3PO. Bent aš taip manau. Kadangi jie visada kartu būna, tai ir komplekte jie abu kaip ir. :cenzura:

Ten million selling Xbox 360 motion-sensing add-on Kinect is the most accurate analogue input device gamers have ever had, Elite creator David Braben has said.

"If you think of the analogue stick for example, if you just show the position of the analogue stick on the screen as a blob, it jitters around all over the place," Braben, whose Frontier Developments made Kinectimals and is worling on Kinect Disneyland Adventures, told Eurogamer in a new interview published this morning.

"When we first got analogue controls we thought, oh yes, you can use it like a mouse. But actually, you can't. It's not precise enough. The mouse is pretty precise, but that's only because that's also a relative device.

"So the way we tend to use analogue sticks is you're doing it as the direction of movement you're controlling. You're not controlling position. Similarly with the mouse, the wheel underneath has got the phase counter on that tracks the relative position. It's just incremental.

"So it feels accurate. But actually it's not that accurate. Same with the analogue stick. So, there's a perception of accuracy."

Kinect's accuracy was called into question when the sensor was released in November last year.

Some launch titles failed to provide the accuracy demanded by their gameplay. But the second wave of Kinect games should provide much better accuracy as developers get to grips with the technology and Microsoft improves the software.

Now, nearly a year after launch, Braben describes Kinect's accuracy as "unbelievable".

"It's one of the first things where you can actually use the position directly as a position, not just as a relative movement. That is a change. We haven't come to terms with how best to use that. We're getting better with each stage."

Apie X360 ir PS3 pardavimus ir kiek MS konsolė priekyje lyginant su Sony....

Info
Games industry analysts believe the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 are approaching similar global sales.

55 million Xbox 360 units have been sold, putting Microsoft's console just five million units ahead of the PlayStation 3.

The Xbox 360, which launched a year before the PlayStation 3, has been buoyed by the success of ten million-selling motion-sensing add-on Kinect.

But, according to EEDAR's Jesse Divnich, for the first six months of 2011 the PlayStation 3 sold ten per cent more than the Xbox 360 worldwide.

"If one looks at the total amount of sales through the first six months of 2011, the PlayStation 3 has sold about ten per cent more than the Xbox 360, worldwide, so the PlayStation 3 is definitely gaining ground," Divnich told IndustryGamers.

"The Xbox 360 does have a five per cent lead over the PlayStation 3 worldwide, a minimal difference," Divnich continued.

"We do know based on our consumer surveys that the replacement rate among Xbox 360s are slightly higher than the PlayStation 3 (the Nintendo DS is the highest, as it is expected for portable electronics). The PlayStation 3 was a tad bit more technologically future proof from the start compared to the Xbox 360.

"I think if you weigh in those factors, the race is neck and neck."

This month Microsoft declared it will be ahead of other consoles worldwide by the end of 2011. "We expect Xbox 360 to maintain its lead and to be number one worldwide by the end of the year, selling more hardware units than PlayStation and Wii," the company stated.

M2 Research's Billy Pidgeon said the PS3 could bypass the Xbox 360's installed base if Microsoft releases a new console.

"Should Microsoft release a successor to Xbox 360 and shift the pipeline for hardcore games over to the new consoles, that would be a possible scenario by which PS3 could bypass Xbox 360's active installed base," Pidgeon said.

"This scenario would give PS3 the opportunity to soak up the hardcore sector."

Avatar Kinect'as jau čia..

Info
Avatar Kinect is out now.

The motion-controlled Xbox Live social hub is available to download for free as part of Kinect Fun Labs. It weighs in at 658.59MB. Grab it from Xbox.com now.

First announced at CES back in January, Avatar Kinect lets you shoot the breeze with your friends' avatars in one of 15 different virtual settings.

The app tracks your facial movements and maps them onto your avatar while you chat.

Despite being a chat tool, like other Fun Labs apps Avatar Kinect has eight achievements with a total of 50 points.

Ir čia pabaigai šiek tiek fun

Naujo dizaino slim'o pultelis ir headsetas

Microsoft has announced a new wireless headset for the Xbox 360.

Available worldwide from early November, it's compatible with any Bluetooth-enabled device, such as a phone or PC, as well as your console.

The US price is $59.99 (around £36.50), though a European tag is yet to be confirmed.

In addition to the headset, Microsoft is also readying a new media remote for the 360. Controls include play/pause, skip forward, fast forward, skip back, fast back, and display to control DVD, CD or streamed media.

The TV controls include power on/off, volume up/down, mute and TV input. It also has A, B, X, Y buttons, D-pad navigation, back and select for easy menu navigation.

Like the headset, it will be available worldwide from early November, priced at your local equivalent of $19.99 (around £12).
