• Two-island confirmed: Ibiza has to share players with an improved and expanded Oahu. Oahu has been modified to fit better in this second Unlimited, and has many new roads, majority being new offroad routes. To get in Oahu you need to reach a certain level, as with Ford Island and the racetrack of TDU1. You'll travel by using an airport on each island. Completing Challenges, Cruise a lot, Collect many cars, houses and wrecks, and scoring on the Social aspects is needed to reach that level.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 gets date

Atari has revealed via its official store that Test Drive Unlimited 2 will be releasing in Europe on 24th September.

The store shows the confirmed date of the game and also gives users an incentive to order from the store, an exclusive bright yellow 370z coupe.

The US date was confirmed earlier this month as 21st September, so Europe getting the game a few days later comes as no surprise really.

Police Game Mode In Test Drive Unlimited 2

TDU2 producer, Nour Polloni, has told IncGamers there will be a police game mode in upcoming racing title Test Drive Unlimited 2.

Asked to expand, Polloni said there is an "infringement bar" in the hud and that "there will be something very special linked to the police mode."

Pushing further we asked if there would be opportunities to outrun the police or even race them, but Polloni only said "there will be a game mode linked to the police, so... yeah."

Adding police to the game not only helps populate the city, but will also add a depth of gameplay to a title that is already trying to do something a little different with the genre. Whether or not an MMO Racer, which is how it's being branded, would necessarily appeal to gamers is yet to be determined.

The game does, however, have some pretty spectacular scenery and gaming options, with four different game modes to choose from, both online and off.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 Closed Beta Sign-ups Begin

Atari has announced that the closed Beta sign-ups for Test Drive Inlimited 2 are now open for business. Developer Eden Games will be looking for a dedicated team of testers to put the game through its paces before the Massively Open Online Racer, or M,O.O.R if you prefer, launches on 21 September

The team are looking for PC and PS3 testers and any interested gamers can now sign-up. Testers will be chosen based on their knowledge of the genre.

"Test Drive Unlimited 2 is expanding on the worldwide success of Test Drive Unlimited and we’re thrilled to be giving racing fanatics another chance to play full throttle in this stunning M.O.O.R. videogame," said Vince Farquharson, Executive Producer, Atari. "At this point in the title’s development we are looking for opinions, feedback and rigorous road testing from our beta testers to help us optimize the performance, handling, and the final feel of the game. These beta testers will be among the first players on earth to experience Test Drive Unlimited 2, and their views will help make this title an even bigger success.”
