PlayStation Store

PlayStation Network will be under maintenance for March 9, 2011

 

Sony has announced some scheduled maintenance for the PlayStation Network this evening. According to the PlayStation Blog, the service will be down from 16:05 PM GMT this evening through to 03:00 AM GMT tomorrow. You’ll be unable to access the PlayStation Store nor manage your account during the downtime. If you want to play online tonight, you’ll need to make sure you sign-in before 4PM.

 

Because today is Store update day, Sony’s said that the new content will go live at 1PM, hopefully giving you enough time to grab it before the maintenance kicks off. Don’t worry, you’ll still get to play Mortal Kombat.

Sony PSN Press Conference Rundown

Sony just held press conference regarding PlayStation Network, below are summaries including what has been upgraded for new PSN:

 

- PSN has upgraded to have higher security to customer data which Including automated "software monitoring" and management to defend against attacks. Higher encryption and detection of intrusions on PSN and Qriosity network, and a way to find patterns.

 

- PS3 will have a new firmware update, that will require user to change their PSN/Qriosity passwords.

 

- Password can only be changed on the same PS3 system that the account that was created on, or by e-mail verification.

 

- Again Sony warn user don't answer e-mails, phone, etc. with people asking for your credit card number.

 

- Sony will consider covering costs if customers will need new credit cards, but user have to prove it first.

 

- All PSN and PSN Plus users get 30 days of free PlayStation PLUS.

 

- The free services will differ from region to region.

 

- Services will be restart within a week.

 

- Sony has received attacks from Anonymous, but they not sure it is related to this attack or not.

 

- Sony has no report of Credit Card fraud.

 

- Sony is trying to regain customer confidence and trust.
