Overview

The protagonist of Vampyr, Dr. Jonathan Reid, returns home after serving in World War I to a widespread outbreak of influenza. He is attacked shortly after his arrival, waking up some time later having become a vampire. The game explores themes of the protagonist struggling between his roles of doctor and vampire, simultaneously being pushed towards both healing and hurting those around him. Over the course of the game players will converse with the inhabitants of four districts of London and will have to make a number of moral choices.

Vampyr is a third-person, story-focused action-RPG. The game features four districts of London, each with its own cast of characters. Every character in the game can be spoken to at length, as Reid explores their personal stories and relations they may have with the other inhabitants. Through these conversations, players can unlock Hints that open up new dialogue with other characters. For example, one NPC may reveal a secret about another character. Reid can then ask the other character about this the next time they speak. Hints can be become permanently 'Lost' if the player fails to convince a character to give up the right details.

Blood Quality and Embracing

As more Hints are revealed about an NPC, their Blood Quality improves. Blood Quality determines how much EXP will be gained should the player decide to feed on the NPC, a feature called Embracing. Embracing an NPC kills them, and the EXP is used to unlock and upgrade vampiric abilities for use in combat. Embracing a character can only be done after Mesmerizing them, wherein Reid leads them to a dark area out of sight of witnesses. Every character has a Mesmerize level, representing mental fortitude, that determines how easy they are to manipulate. Upgrading Reid's Mesmerize ability happens through story progression. As such, an NPC's Mesmerize level essentially determines how soon in the story they can be killed.

The other determining factor of Blood Quality is character health. NPCs can be stricken by fatigue, headaches, pneumonia, and other afflictions. Reid can craft cures for these ailments and heal them, raising their Blood Quality.

Each district has its own measure of health, determined by how many its characters are alive and well. Districts become destabilized by deaths and illness, and if the situation becomes too severe it may be become hostile.

Combat and Crafting

Throughout Vampyr, Reid does battle against vampiric 'Skals' and vampire hunters. Combat is melee focused, though Reid does have access to some firearms. Vampiric abilities include claw attacks, blood spears, and more. Dodging and swinging melee weapons cost stamina, while vampiric abilities use blood. Blood can be gained in combat by successfully stunning an enemy and biting them.

At any of the hideouts located throughout London, Reid can use a workbench to upgrade his weapons and to craft cures as well as serums, consumables used in combat.

Vampyr is an RPG that takes place in 20th century Britain, in a time when the Spanish Flu has led to disease, violence, and fear spreading through the streets. Steeped in vampire mythology, anyone that ventures from their homes puts themselves at risk of falling prey to these legendary blood-suckers.

Players fill the shoes of Jonathan E. Reed, a military surgeon that's been transformed into a vampire upon returning home from war. Not only will Reed lend a hand to the citizens of London, he'll also need to be cautious of his vampire needs, which will require that he feeds off these inhabitants when the time comes. Any character can be his prey, and he'll need to study their patterns and create the ideal circumstances for feeding. Because each death will impact the world in a meaningful way, players will need to make intelligent decisions about who they will drain next.

When it comes to gameplay and mechanics, Vampyr will feature a dynamic melee combat system that blends ranged attacks and vampiric powers. These abilities will be used against other species of vampires, creatures, and even vampire hunters. While utilizing your unique talents in battle will undoubtedly give you an edge, it also weakens Reed, which we're assuming requires him to feed sooner than he would normally have to.

Along with the announcement of Vampyr comes a brief conceptual teaser trailer to provide a glimpse at the atmosphere that can be expected in the game.

Po ilgos pertraukos screenai kurie istikro apie zaidima kaip ir nieko nepasako. Turbut tik tiek, kad tai bus senovinio londono aplinka.

Būtų smagu pagaliau gauti gerą žaidimą su vampyrais. Bloodrayne man nelabai patiko, norisi kažko su atmosfera, čia atrodo laikas atitaikytas, tai bus matyt.

Gal ne apie tai tu, bet perskaites prisiminiau viena sena zaidima kuri teko sulosti: Dracula 2: The Last Sanctuary. Super buvo tuo laiku. Galbut ir cia kazkas panasaus bus.

Nu aš labiau gameplay turėjau omeny, čia ir matosi, kad laikai senoviniai tikriausiai, kas labai gerai.

A nu gameplay prasme tai galbūt, aš kažkaip ir pagalvojau iš kur ten Duex Ex tie vampyrai :D Ne taip supratau, my bad. Aš visai norėčiau kažko assasins creed stilium. Atmosferą manau būtų galima sukurt plius parkour irgi labai padėtų :D

Tarp kitko šitą drakulą atsimenu, mažas dar buvau tai dėdė turėjo rusišką versiją. Looked creepy as fuck. Bet kažkaip point and click nebūtų taip įdomu, needs more action :D

      Nu nes CD Project yra sakiusi, jog taiko savo modelį pagal Rockstar, maniau čia visiems žinomas dalykas. Nors paskutiniu metu nusisuko nuo to modelio kiek, nes kuria vienu metu du žaidimus.   Labai abejoju, ypatingai, kaip jie atsiprašinėjo po Cyberpunk 2077 releaso ir žadėjo viską ištaisyti ir nekartoti klaidų...ir kas pasakys, kad jie neištesėjo, žaidimas ištaisytas ir expansionas vienas geresnių ever.   Būtent, tik tiek, kad The Witcher 3 bugų lygis palyginus su Cyberpunk 2077 buvo minimalus, manau visada išleidžiant tokį milžinišką geimą paleidus jį milijonams naudotojų atsiras daugybė bugų, bet juos ištaisyt greitai gali.
