Klipsch speakers to be featured inside Alienware M17x 3D notebook

Nuotrauka

Alienware makes some of the coolest and most expensive notebooks on the market. The company has a really cool design and packs its rigs with some high-end hardware. One of the places that your typical notebook computer is lacking for me is the sound system that they come with.

Klipsch has announced that its speakers will be used on the first 3D gaming notebook from Alienware. The new machine will be the first release in a series of new notebooks from Alienware that will use Klipsch speakers to give superior sound quality. The speakers should sound great; Klipsch makes some of the best audio gear on the market today.

The new M17x will launch this month starting at $1499. The machine will have a 3D 17-inch screen and it will use Intel Sandy Bridge processors with four cores. The notebook will also have HDMI in for playing the Xbox and PS3 3D style and the 3D screen will be an option.

Roxio debuts $100 Game Capture device to record your console heroics

Nuotrauka

Looking to record some of your marathon Call of Duty sessions for posterity and (potential) internet fame? Then you likely won't find a much cheaper or easier solution than Roxio's new Game Capture device, which will be available later this month for just $99.99. As you might expect, however, that bargain price comes with one fairly big drawback -- it will only capture video at 480p, although you can apparently still play at up to 1080p on your TV. PC gamers can also make use of Roxio's new PC Game Capture software to record their games, and both options include a variety of editing tools that will let you handle transitions, commentary, background music, and other basics. Head on past the break for the complete press release.

Įdomus aparačiokas...

AMD 2012 mobile GPU roadmap leaks: 28nm Radeon HD 7000M

Nuotrauka

Details of AMD‘s 28nm mobile GPU roadmap have leaked, with four families of Radeon HD 7000M graphics chips specified for 2012. According to the document, passed to Turkish site Donanimhaber, AMD is readying mainstream, performance and gaming chips for notebook use: Thames, Chelsea, Heathrow and Wimbledon.

Thames is described as a mainstream GPU, with a 15-25W TDP, 128-bit memory interface, and twice the performance of AMD’s current 40nm Radeon HD 6000M mainstream chip. Chelsea hits the 20-30W performance category, again with a 128-bit memory interface.

Heathrow and Wimbledon are the gamer/enthusiast chips, with 35W+ TDPs. Heathrow will offer either 128-bit or 192-bit memory interfaces, while Wimbledon will bump that to 256-bit. No sign of any performance estimates from AMD. Thames, Chelsea and Heathrow will all hit production in Q4 2011 and are expected to show up in products in early 2012, while Wimbledon will follow on later with production in Q1 2012 and a release further through the year.

Seagate Ships 9mm-Thin 2.5" External Hard Drive

Nuotrauka

Slim is in! Seagate has just announced a rediculously skinny new hard drive, with razer-thin 2.5" GoFlex Slim Drive. It's an external HDD, and it'll be easy to lose in your briefcase. The 9mm drive is slimmer than a pencil, and it ships with 320GB of capacity and a USB 3.0 port. The GoFlex addition means that it's capable of interfacing with a few other ports as well, and the 7200RPM spindle rate should mean pretty impressive performance. It's bus-powered, and it also allows compatibility between Mac and Windows machines. Additionally, the drive’s included premium backup software provides automatic and continuous backups and encrypts files and folders.

The GoFlex Slim portable drive will also be available in a version for use specifically with Mac OS X computers. The GoFlex Slim for Mac portable drive will be HFS+ formatted out-of-the-box, making it fully compatible with Apple Time Machine. Both models will sell for $99, with the non-Mac specific build being available starting today. So, how much slimmer can we go before we're staring at 500GB on a credit card?

Equipped with a 7200RPM drive and a USB3.0 interface to accelerate transfer speeds up to 10x faster than USB2.0, this attractive super-slim drive delivers quick access to large, multi-media files such as HD movies and video games. The faster drive speed takes full advantage of the included plug-and-play USB 3.0 interface, while still maintaining compatibility with USB 2.0 ports.

Nuotrauka

Just in time for Spring, ASUS has refreshed its Lamborghini VX7, a staple in the company's line of premium notebooks (and fugly smartphones) inspired by the storied Italian car maker. Available in orange and a more staid black, this 8.4-pound beast packs a quad-core Sandy Bridge Intel Core i7 processor, Full HD 15.6-inch display, discrete NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M graphics with 3GB of video memory, up to 16GB of RAM, an 8-cell battery, one USB 3.0 port (along with three USB 2.0 ones), HDMI output, a 2 megapixel webcam, and hard drive space ranging from 500GB to 750GB with speeds of either 5,400RPM or 7,200RPM. Or, you can opt for an SSD as large as 1.25TB. (ASUS likens the speeds to a 10,000 RPM drive.) No word yet on pricing or availability, though we're pretty sure Valentino Balboni won't be ponying up to type on one of these either way.

Update: A couple sites are taking pre-orders, with the VX7 consistently priced at $2,269.

IdeaPad S205 hits Lenovo webstore, starts at $499

Nuotrauka

The first of Lenovo's CES-announced S Series, the S205, sauntered into the computer manufacturer's online store this week, albeit lacking the 8GB DDR3 SDRAM option mentioned at its announcement. The base model sells for $499, sporting a 1.60Ghz dual-core AMD Fusion E-350 CPU, an 11.6-inch (1366 x 768 resolution) 16:9 widescreen panel, 3GB of DDR3 SDRAM, ATI Mobility Radeon 6310 graphics, and a 350GB HDD. Two higher cost configurations score an extra gig of RAM, an optional Bluetooth radio, and a 500GB or 750GB HDD. The lesser of the higher end models can be had for a $429 at LogicBuy until Wednesday, if you can live without Bluetooth (which man did for thousands of years, but you know what we mean).
